去年の年末くらいに、朝遅いのに出がけにバタバタするのはなんでだろう、と考えたら、明らかに髭剃りの手間だった。ずーっとジェルを塗ってジレットのT字剃刀（多枚刃）で剃る、が日課というか出かける前の儀式だったんだけど、これ、5分〜10分という時間を洗面所に拘束されるし、前日夜に剃ったとしても翌朝の手間は減らないのでどうあがいても出がけに決まった時間を食われる。

電気シェーバーのことを漠然とは意識しつつも、爽快感だとか深剃り性能だとかを言い訳に何も変えないで来たので、思い立っていろいろ調べまくった末に一つ購入した。選んだのはPanasonic ES-CLV7B。これはES-LV7Bの量販店用型番で、物は同じ。最新ではない型落ちなんだけど、ES-CLV7C/ES-LV7Cとの差は僅かで、中でも替え刃の違いは交換で埋まるようなので、安さを取った。

機種選定にあたっては、風呂剃りは不要、洗浄は必須、と決めた。風呂で剃るユースケースはなく、あったしてもT字でいい。また、手でちまちま掃除するのはたとえ週一でもごめんだ。毎日自動メンテナンスですっきり清潔なものを使いたい。

さあ、念願のシェーバーが届いて！何が変わったかというと！

  • T字剃刀と同等の深剃りをするには同じくらいの時間が掛かるけど、ながら剃りができる！（音はうるさいし剃ったものが飛び散るのは気になるからテレビを見ながらとかはいまいちだが）
  • 事前に剃っておけばその分出がけの準備時間が短縮される！気になったらいつでも剃れる。
  • 刃のコンディションを日々気にする必要がない。T字剃刀は、百均なんかにある「シリコン衝撃吸収パッド」に擦りつけて皮脂汚れを取って切れ味を維持するというハックで長持ちさせているが、それにしても刃こぼれがないか見たり、適切な量の替え刃をストックし続けるのは負担だった。燃えないゴミが出るし。
  • 自動洗浄なので手間がないしランニングコストも安い。
  • 旅行のときに楽。

とおおむね満足。もみあげ・生え際やもちろん眉毛などは難しいのでT字やI字の必要は残るものの、ストックやメンテナンスのコストは著しく減った。

肝心の剃り味はというと、ちゃんと念入りにやれば十分深く剃れる。それも慣れると結構早い。それでいて剃刀負けはない。体験できるショールーム巡りなどはしなかったけど、十分いい買い物ができたと思う。生活の質が少し上がりました。
